Bristol’s legendary club-on-a-boat has got to be experienced to be believed. Not much can prepare you for the dark and ancient balconies, stairways and crazy folk in costumes – everything from tutus and fluorescent jelly hair extensions to jeans and trainers. A friendly atmosphere, so refreshing after nights with shag-hungry lager twats at mainstream clubs, and genuinely banging underground music (D’n’B/hiphop/funk/hard house).

Chill-out cabin upstairs, reasonable bar and food prices, and psychedelic visual effects. Slap the UV body paint on, grab a glo-stick and go pound the dance floor – if the Thekla ever lifts anchor, we wanna be on it.
