Splitz Nightclub

Opened in 1981 in a former tobacco warehouse this was originally called the Dereham Social Club but was known by it's clietele as the Upstairs Club because it used the upper floor of the premises. The original proprietor was John Bennett, assisted by partner Kay. Latter the club was extended to include the bottom floor of the premises. At that time the customers were mainly over 30;s. When John and Kay moved on to develop Cocos on Norwich Road the premises became a night club carering for a younger age group. At one time it was called Aurora Borealis.
