Outlar

Outlar.com is a non-profit site focused on Electronic and Dance Music events in Liverpool, UK. The site was originally created in 2004 by Paul Burkey (aka Paul Outlar), a computer game designer (and part time DJ) from Liverpool with a love of the electronic music scene and community spirit that surrounds it. In the first two years the site has expanded to over 15,000 pages of information on events past and future in Liverpool as well as information on related artists and music productions. The site currently serves half a million pages every month.

In 2005 an Outlar sister site (PlasticSoup.com) was opened with an aim to provide reviews, interviews and general music and culture journalism. So far PlasticSoup has worked with and/or interviewed likes of Jeff Mills, DJ Craze, Underground Resistance, DJ Premier and Kevin Saunderson.

Beginnings

I grew increasingly tired of having to dig through dozens of web sites, forums and newspapers trying to figure out what was going on a particular night. Existing Liverpool Clubbing sites offer little more than Forums, Photo's and Adverts. It's all too easy to overlook events happening at smaller clubs/venues like The Magnet, The Lemon Lounge and Djangos Riff in favor of the larger clubs like The Masque and Nation.
