Venue Description

Fruit is a new and exciting entertainment, exhibition and art space in Hull. Situated in the heart of the old Fruit Market and marina area of the city, this warehouse venue will host a variety of cutting edge cultural activities. From theatre and music, to comedy, art and photography exhibitions, this multifunctional space will also feature markets and food fayres as well as activities for children and young people.

Fruit will be home to award-winning theatre company Ensemble 52, it will also be a base for Hull Film, bringing the best in new, independent and classic cinema. Fruit will be operated by the highly successful team behind Hull's leading music venue The Welly.

Andy Balman and David Mays of Humyne Ltd have combined their knowledge of working within the creative industries alongside experience of developing venues and galleries from scratch, to create an art space which they hope will bring something exciting and vibrant to the old fruit market.

Fruit will also be joining forces with Andrew Pearson, director of award winning professional theatre company Ensemble 52. Fruit will have an eclectic range of live music performances programmed by Dean Shakespeare.

"Having identified the Fruit Market as one of Hull's most underappreciated areas, whilst also been one of the city biggest prospects. 62/63 Humber Street (Fruit) is an ideal building, situated in the heart of the Fruit Market quarter.

We hope to create a space that can multitask and provide a hub and meeting place as well as attract people to visit, spend time and money. Whilst bringing life and shape to the future development of the area."
- Andy Balman, Fruit
