Artist Description

Ian Cheshire aka Kube 72 began mixing in 1996. He was influenced by the big techno DJ’s like Carl Cox, Jeff Mills and Derrick May.

Enjoying being behind the decks at parties and at home he developed his skills by running his own night called Freeze at Imperial Gardens, London. From that moment on he decided that he wanted to play more but not just in clubs but also at festivals.

He managed this when he played at the Lizard Festival in Goonhilly in 99 with artists like Green Velvet and Derrick Carter.

Soon after this he then went on to play at the Newquay Surfing Championship and Big Bear Mountains Snowboard Competition in the USA.

Kube 72 has played alongside a lot of the big names DJ’s like Carl Cox, Dave Clarke, DJ Rush, Claude Young, Pascal Feos, Charles Seigling, Gayle San, Joris Voorn, Asem Shama (Vanguard), Neil Landstrumm, La.di.da, Louis Osboune, Chris Finke, Codex & Flexor and many more.

In May 2003 and 2004 he embarked on the Detroit Impression Tour with Taurus which took them on a total of 90 dates starting in Detroit for the Movement Festival after Parties. After that they then went to the UK, Germany and Poland.

In 2005 he not only played at a Tsunami Benefit Gig at Subsoil, The West Cost Tent at Glastonbury alongside artist like Stereo MCs and Ellen Alien but he was also asked to play in the UK on Its not Over Tresor Tour alongside Scan 7, Colin Dale and Andrea Parker.

He has a residency at the Triebwerk Club in Dresden, East Germany and has so far had three releases.

One on Media Records as remix of DJ Scarecrow?s Zwielicht and the other, “Break my Back” on Tekknik Exprimental Records the Seventy EP which also featured a remix from Chris Finke of Split .

The next EP called ?Meus Prosapia? is currently being played by Carl Cox on his Global Show, Claude Young, Danny Tenaglia, Mark EG, Bryant Baker and Glodagh. The EP is set for release on Tekkxp Records in March.

But not stopping at just making and playing music, he also writes for the free music newspaper called BASE.AD which is not only distributed here in London but also in Melbourne, Australia. Interviewing techno artists like Steve Bicknell, Colin Dale, Chris Finke and Billy Nasty.

Kube 72 has a unique style of blending techno from all corners of the world which has helped him to play alongside DJ’s like Carl Cox, Rush and Claude Young and at the clubs such as Tresor and at festivals like Glastonbury, Liberty One, Love Weekend/Berlin.
