Brighton nightlife is some of the best in the UK and attracts huge numbers of locals, visitors, hen and stage parties and tourists looking for everything from a quiet drink in a cosy pub to dancing the night away to some of the biggest DJs in the world. There are options for underground music fans, mainstream fans, cocktail lovers and real ale appreciators, as well as some fantastic one off events.

For a traditional pub atmosphere, try The Greys which has an impressive selection of Belgian beers and great food. The Evening Star is another perfect option for beer lovers with seven real ales on tap and a great selection of imported beers. The pub also has live music and lots of delicious edibles.

Clubs

Life has a prime seafront spot in Brighton and offers the discerning underground music fan a perfect venue in which to enjoy some forward thinking beats, from dubstep to drum n bass. The club also has some of the best student nights in the city and is usually open until around 5am at the weekends. Digital is another well known underground music venue, which also has a great selection of live gigs and one offs. For something more mainstream, the Honeyclub has hosted a range of big name DJs, such as David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Fedde le Grand and Roger Sanchez, and has a number of different nights, such as Latin Fever, I Love R&B and The Sunday Party. Revenge is part of Brighton’s legendary gay scene and has lots of lively nights on offer to its mixed crowd, including Disco Bomb and Kinky Classics. If you like your clubs big then Oceana is several venues in one with a whole spectrum of different rooms to choose from, including Reykjavik Icehouse, New York Disco and the Aspen Ski Lodge.

Events

In addition to the thriving bar and club scene, Brighton also has a number of notable one off party and nightlife events that add to the attraction of the location. The city’s annual Gay Pride festival promotes equality and diversity whilst having a huge party, with a spectacular parade and celebrations around the city. The Great Escape Festival is run over 30 venues around Brighton with more than 300 artists performing each year. The festival was set up to promote new artists and attracts a huge number of mainstream and alternative acts, from Adele to Chase & Status. Internationally renowned DJ Fatboy Slim established his Big Beach Boutique dance fest in 2011 and this has now become an annual even, with 2012 acts including Carl Cox and Nero.

Brighton nightlife is made up of a comprehensive selection of bars, clubs, pubs and events with a huge selection of types of music to suit most of those looking for a party by the sea.
