| Title | Tech Funk Depot Boat Part Review by Ross Truscott |

Well what can I say about this night apart from, they got it spot on! The launch of Tech Funk Depots Nights went so well with a bright and exciting future in London that’s for sure. Getting stuck on the tubes I nearly didn’t make it myself to this long awaited event (however I did)! There was such a great atmosphere as soon as you arrived with the guys who organised the event greeting you on Victoria peer. A lot of my personal friends were also attending the event which also made it extra special and lots of new faces there to meet too.
As soon as the music came on the dance floor (top deck) was instantly full with amazing tech funk emanating from the boat. The sun was shining and expectations of the night ahead were high as there had been a lot of hype created with the Lot 49 boys onboard, Meat Katie and Dylan Rhymes. Well there was certainly no disappointment from myself or the crowd as tune after tune of absolute banging music ripped up the famous Thames River. There were many other familiar faces on board with the guy who runs the world famous Breakspoll the international breakbeat awards on board and Rektchords who was to be playing the after party in Islington after the boat party.
As the night went on and the sun started to set over the magnificent London there were the famous sites to be seen such as the houses of parliament and the London Eye, it made for a magical trip, one that I will never forget! The fact that you were dancing to this music while looking at these sites was a bit surreal but beautiful all the same. For the last hour on the boat everyone’s mood was “high” and silly conversations and general Tomfoolery made it a very funny exit and when the boat started to dock people did not want to get off. This of course is a very good sign!
When leaving the boat everyone started to head over the “Relentless Garage” in Islington for part two which was also going to be a real stomp with my friend Jamie Rektchords headlining. We lost a couple of our party on the way and the true hardcore were left! The club was great and had very friendly door staff who were helpful and didn’t make you feel like criminals for wanting to party. Again the music was really great and Call Me T and Rektchords really had the place bouncing.
There was the usual random conversation in the smoking area outside and I managed to meet some people who, have said should meet up for some beers in the future, which is always cool on a night out. There was plenty of drinks flowing and again lots of happy faces, so much beer in fact that by the last hour my shoes were sticking to the floor, this in no way ruined anyone’s night and became a game by the end. I tell you how well it went I was speaking to the two guys who organised the event and we were speaking about future events and how they would like me to get involved in the future. I agreed and said I would be happy to get involved and would love to be part of what I see as a real player in events in London. So please watch this space for now they will be bi monthly events with the next one in the end of July.
If you like breaks, electro or techno then you should start to listen to this ever increasing music movement “Tech Funk” and check out some of the previous interviews this month’s from some of world greatest players.
