Miss Kittin @ Fabric London
As always when going to Fabric there is a certain excitement about even getting ready, you know you are going to have a good night. Well this was certainly no exception! There was a group of us going including my house mates who have never been before and my other half who’s favourite DJ happens to be Miss kittin, so this night for me was especially exciting.
We were all ready and approached Fabric to see what the queues were like and they were relatively small and as I didn’t have my usual Clubnet privileges of free entry and not having to queue, this was a consideration as the queue can get very long. We decided to go to the local pub, which was shut when we got there. Returning to Fabic fine minutes later the queue had tripled in size but was moving at an acceptable rate. We were soon in and the usual excitement began to grow.
There is something magical about walking down that huge stair case to this old cotton factory, hence the name Fabric. I also get a real thrill from showing people around for the first time; my house mates were far from disappointed. I was first to dance on the dance floor in the main room as I like to try and do (I love the attention). We then went on to room two which was starting to fill up very quickly and there was the usual friendly banter between clubbers including and importune “Macarena”. The electro bouncing off the walls with the usual minimal tones of “Wetyourself” and many happy faces dotted around the room with pure anticipation of the many hours of dancing to come, as tonight, or tomorrow should I say fabric doesn’t shut until 8am “ Fantastic”!
As the night progressed with a few trips out to the smoking area where you can usually make a friend for life as I seem to have done a few times, some people of which I see on a regular basis. People waiting for Miss Kittins set, especially someone that I was with, which made it even more exciting and built the anticipation. The guys on the stage who played the set before I am ashamed to say I am not sure who they were and was a bit too lost in the music to find out, were astounding ,as soon as I know I will update this article and add links to them.
Miss Kittin was due to play her set but came on late and when we returned from the smoking area once again to Find these guys had finished their set and no Miss kitten on stage. By this time it was becoming a bit disappointing. I just went for it, jumped up on the stage and started going for it with exceptional techno playing. I all of a sudden realised, it was Miss Kitten who was hiding in the back DJ box and not putting on the show that I was hoping for, however still playing a stonking set, all the same. She has a very distinctive sound that can be picked up very quickly and I would happily spend hours dancing to her. This I have to admit was the first time I have seen her live and I would defiantly want to see her again. I would love to see the show that she can put on, check out some of her stuff from youtube she knows how to rock a place.
An amazing night again from my favourite Fabric and managed to stay until the lights were about to go on at about five past eight but could have carried on for many hours. The traditional walk of shame had to happen and went home for a glass of wine before bed. Wetyourself and Miss Kittin get the thumbs up from me and get a well deserved Clubnet recommendation.
